How I Took a Leap of Faith in My Career
Sometimes the toughest part of starting a new adventure is the fear that comes along with it. We convince ourselves that we are not capable, or not financially stable enough to take the leap of faith to chase our dreams. We we keep grinding away that 9-5 everyday and wondering if it will ever chase us. Well the truth is... It wont. Just go for it.
Which is exactly why I am writing this blog post right now. I'm going for it.
A year and a half ago I started working my 8-4:30 job Monday - Friday. Up until a few weeks ago, my stomach was in knots, twists and turns after facing many issues. "What am I doing"? as many tears fall down my face.
So here I am. I have chosen to leap. I quit my 8-4:30 job, and now have some free time until I find something else that will allow me to live my dreams on the side and build my blogging business. One step closer towards MY dream.
This fashion influencing business had been a dream of mine now since last year after literally watching a select few people I watched very closely become SO successful in only a matter 9 months to a year.
These leaps of faith happen as much as in the small moments like in the large ones. You don't always know how they'll turn out, but you'll learn some lessons from them whether they are good or bad. Your career sometimes may force you to want to make these choices. But once you take them, there's no looking back. Keep moving forward!
If you're on the verge of making your own leap of faith remember this:
LOOK FOR THE PIT IN YOUR STOMACH
Wait for what scares you the most. Wait for the nausea that won't budge when you want it to. Something you think you just wouldn't be able to do but want to. Wait for those calls and then do it.
YOU'LL NEVER BE FULLY READY
If you wait until you are ready to quit your job, then it will be too late. There will never be a good time. Just wait for your gut to tell you. It might not be logical, but you will be happy. The less you wait, the more ready you will be.
WHAT'S THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN?
Seriously. Think about it. For me, it was money. How will I create an income? What am I going to do until I am able to do this on my own? But you know what? To balance out the worst that could happen for me, I can get a part time job retail job. Something not 9-5, something to keep me going and inspired in fashion. Something that allows me more time to do what I love. If you can figure out your worst case scenario, and make do with it, then this IS worth it.
Big leaps of faith require a lot of courage. Making a leap of faith for yourself and no one else is one of the best things you can do for yourself, and to be successful.
